Board of Supervisors Meeting – February 26, 2018

A meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors was held on the day 26th of February, 2018, in the Board Room of the Wayne County Courthouse, Corydon, Iowa, pursuant to notice duly given in compliance with Iowa Code Section 21.4. The Board noted due notice of meeting subject to said Code Section.
Present were David Dotts, Duffy Kester, John Sellers, members of the Board of Supervisors.
Unless otherwise noted, all motions were approved unanimously.
Pledge of Allegiance
Kester made the motion seconded by Sellers to approve the Agenda
Sellers made the motion seconded by Kester to approve the minutes of the Feb. 12, 2018 meeting.
Sellers made the motion with a 2nd by Kester to approve the claims.
The bid for foundation repair of the New Venture Group Home was tabled until County Attorney Alan Wilson had a chance to review both bids.
County Engineer, Trevor Wolf, told the Board that the salt bill would be larger than last year. Wolf stated that they are nearing completion of the bridge on the county line. The new tractors he had ordered have arrived, but still need a few things done before they are delivered. Kester made a motion with a second by Sellers to amend the 5 year program for road patching.
Velvet Buckingham and Wade Shafer from the NRCS addressed the Board to discuss the wetland project on the Walker Branch. Kester made a motion with a second by Sellers for Wayne County Supervisors to sign on to the Walker Branch Wetland Project.
Darin Thompson and Mike McEnroy from DHS discussed budget items and told the Board that they were pleased with the working relationship they now have with Wayne County.
John Pearson from Scantron/Harland met with the Board to discuss his company’s willingness to assist Wayne County with an unmet IT needs. Scantron/Harland had worked with Wayne County for 25+ years and would like to start working with the county in the future.
Steve Preader was unable to attend and will reschedule.
Kester made the motion to adjourn the meeting with a second by Dotts.
There being no further business, the next meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors will be held on the 12th day of March, 2018.
