Board of Supervisors Meeting – May 7, 2018

A meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors was held on the 7th day of May, 2018, in the Board Room of the Wayne County Courthouse, Corydon, Iowa, pursuant to notice duly given in compliance with Iowa Code Section 21.4. The Board noted due notice of meeting subject to said Code Section.
Present were David Dotts and Duffy Kester, members of the Board of Supervisors. John Sellers was absent.
Unless otherwise noted, all motions were approved unanimously.
Pledge of Allegiance
Kester made the motion seconded by Dotts to approve the Agenda with the addition of Keith Davis.
Kester made the motion seconded by Dotts to approve the minutes of the April 24, 2018 meeting.
Kester made the motion with a 2nd by Dotts to approve the claims.
Trevor Wolf, Engineer, discussed work by secondary roads. They are finishing up work south of Vetters on S-40 and will be moving to Edison. Wolf presented Resolution 05-02-18 to return 200th to a Level A road in Monroe Township. Kester made the motion with a 2nd by Dotts to accept Resolution 05-02-18. Kester made a motion with a 2nd by Dotts to approve Resolution 05-01-18 to hold a Public Hearing to vacate 210th. Kester made a motion with a 2nd by Dotts to approve a contract with Cunningham-Reis in the amount of $936,876.82.
Keith Davis, Wayne County Sheriff, addressed the Board for clarification on vacation for his employees. The Board will get information from Jack Reed on the matter. Davis discussed Lexipol, a web-based training on policy and procedures that caters to Wayne County. The cost would be $5392 per year for the jail and $4826 per year for the officers. Davis has funds that can be moved from the Commissary account for this. Sheriff Davis also discussed purchasing 5 more body cameras for deputies and possibly buying 2 body cameras for the jail.
A Public Hearing was held at 10:00 AM concerning the closure of 45th St. Tod Kucera was in attendance and expressed his desire for the county to close this portion of the road. Kucera owns land on both sides of the road except for a portion owned by Marvin Rockhold. Rockhold has signed paperwork to agree with the closure. Engineer, Trevor Wolf, stated that some trees are sticking out in the roadway and are a liability if the road is left open. Wolf stated that secondary roads has no objections to the closure. No official action was taken by the Board at this meeting.
Kester made the motion with 2nd by Dotts (via phone) to adjourn at 10:20 AM.
There being no further business, the next meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors will be held on the 22nd day of May, 2018.
