Board of Supervisors Meeting – July 16, 2018

A meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors was held on the 16th day of July, 2018, in the Board Room of the Wayne County Courthouse, Corydon, Iowa, pursuant to notice duly given in compliance with Iowa Code Section 21.4. The Board noted due notice of meeting subject to said Code Section.
Present were David Dotts, Duffy Kester, John Sellers, members of the Board of Supervisors.
Unless otherwise noted, all motions were approved unanimously.
Pledge of Allegiance.
Kester made the motion seconded by Sellers to approve the Agenda.
Sellers made the motion seconded by Kester to approve the minutes of the July 2, 2018 meeting.
Sellers made the motion with a 2nd by Kester to approve the claims.
David Rhodes, Sanitarian/Environmental Director was present for the 2nd and 3rd Reading of the Waste Water Ordinance. Kester made the motion with a 2nd by Sellers to approve the Waste Water Ordinance.
Supervisor Dotts discussed the recent interview of Jeff Skalberg for the Engineer vacancy. The Board stated that Skalberg will have a six month probationary period with no pay increase at the end of 6 months. Sellers made the motion with a 2nd by Kester to offer the Wayne County Engineer position to Jeff Skalberg. County Attorney, Alan Wilson, will review the contract prior to signing.
Dan Carpenter and Interim Engineer, Gary Bishop, discussed two SIDCA projects that have not moved for several years. Supervisor Sellers will get more information and share it with the Board. Bishop discussed an inquiry he received concerning upgrading a dirt road to gravel. Carpenter also updated the Board on bridge work and semi repair.
Kester made a motion with a 2nd by Sellers to approve the following Resolutions and changes to FY 2019 Boards and Committees.

BOARDS AND COMMITTEES – FY19

The Board discussed the sewer smell in the Courthouse. Dan Coffey has addressed the situation and will continue to monitor it in the future.
Kester made the motion to adjourn the meeting with a second by Sellers.
There being no further business, the next meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors will be held on the 30th day of July, 2018.
