September 25, 2017
A meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors was held on the 25th day of September , 2017, in the Board Room of the Wayne County Courthouse, Corydon, Iowa, pursuant to notice duly given in compliance with Iowa Code Section 21.4. The Board noted due notice of meeting subject to said Code Section.
Present were David Dotts, Duffy Kester, John Sellers, members of the Board of Supervisors.
Unless otherwise noted, all motions were approved unanimously.
Sellers made the motion seconded Kester to approve the Agenda with the addition of an employee insurance question and the tax equalization notice.
Kester made the motion seconded by Sellers to approve the minutes of the September 15, 2017 meeting.
Sellers made the motion with a 2nd by Kester to approve the claims.
Auditor, Tammy Clark, addressed the Board to explain that there is no adjustment on the tax equalization.
Sellers made a motion with a 2nd by Kester to adopt Resolution 09-01-17 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE CONFIDENTALITY OF THE WAYNE COUNTY COURTHOUSE SAFETY AND SECURITY POLICY.
Kim Swearingin, Wayne County Treasurer, addressed the board concerning abatement of taxes for property owned by the city of Allerton. Sellers made the motion with a 2nd by Dotts to abate the taxes for Parcel 10100C207002 for $410 for this year and for all future years.
Dan Coffey, Maintenance, was present to discuss the removal of trees. The Board had questions on the one bid that had been presented. Coffey clarified what was actually needed to complete this project. No bids have been received for digging and replacing tile.
Trevor Wolf, Secondary Roads, stated that this is the last week of four 10 hour days and they will begin working five days per week next week.
David Eckles addressed the Board to express his concern about the upkeep at the Promise City Cemetery.
Sellers made a motion with a 2nd by Kester to accept a credit card agreement with Great Western Bank for a credit limit of $75,000 with Tammy Clark, David Dotts, and Kim Swearingin as administrators of the account.
The Board talked with Jack Reed, INCS Services, via telephone to discuss the proposed seat belt policy for Wayne County employees. Kester made the motion with a 2nd by Dotts to add 3.12 EMPLOYEE SAFETY RESPONSIBILITES to the Employee Handbook.
The Board discussed an employee request for a change in insurance but made no changes.
Kester made the motion to adjourn the meeting with a second by Dotts.
There being no further business, the next meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors will be held on the 9th day of October, 2017.
