Wayne County Board of Supervisors

August 26, 2019

A meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors was held on the 26th day of August, 2019, in the Board Room of the Wayne County Courthouse, Corydon, Iowa, pursuant to notice duly given in compliance with Iowa Code Section 21.4.  The Board noted due notice of meeting subject to said Code Section.

Present were David Dotts, Tom Swearingin, members of the Board of Supervisors, Bill Byrns, Michelle Dooley, Jack Shields and Don Seams by phone

Unless otherwise noted, all motions were approved unanimously.

Dotts called meeting to order at 9:00 AM

Pledge of Allegiance.

TSwearingin made the motion with a second by Seams to approve the agenda.

TSwearingin made the motion with a second by Seams to approve the minutes.

TSwearingin made the motion with a second by Seams to approve claims.

TSwearingin made the motion with a second by Seams to approve payroll.

Bill Byrns discussed that he had completed the 17 required training courses to become a Certified Emergency Management Coordinator.  He also stated FEMA Reps were holding a Recovery Scoping meeting @ 11:00 AM to discuss the 27 items of concern.

Jack Shields, Mayor of Lineville, discussed the plans to clean up the East side of the square in Lineville.  He asked for the BOS consideration of abatement taxes owed on properties that would be deeded over to the City of Lineville for the project.  Mayor Shields will be working with County Treasurer, Kim Swearingin and reporting back to the BOS with the specific details of his request.

City of Humeston requested the BOS to abate taxes due in 2018 for Parcel 01150E351004 for $74.  TSwearingin made the motion with a second by Seams to approve the abatement of past due amount.

Randy Zerr & Dan Carpenter, Secondary Roads, discussed FEMA visit.  They are working on DOT Report due September 15th and GASB Report for State Auditors.  DCarpenter is working gathering information for replacing a Semi-Tractor.  Also mowing of the County highways have begun.

TSwearingin made the motion with a second by Dotts to approve the Semi-Annual Report.

TSwearingin made the motion with a second by Dotts to approve the Cash and Outstanding Report.

TSwearingin and Dotts attended the ISAC Conference held in Des Moines last week.

No Public Comment

Swearingin made the motion with a second by Dotts to adjourn the meeting at 9:45 AM.

There being no further business, the next meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors will be held on the 9th day of September, 2019.
