Board of Supervisors Meeting – July 10, 2017

A meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors was held on the 10th day of July, 2017, in the Board Room of the Wayne County Courthouse, Corydon, Iowa, pursuant to notice duly given in compliance with Iowa Code Section 21.4. The Board noted due notice of meeting subject to said Code Section.

Present were David Dotts, Duffy Kester, John Sellers, members of the Board of Supervisors.
Unless otherwise noted, all motions were approved unanimously.

Kester made the motion seconded by Sellers to approve the Agenda.
Sellers made the motion seconded by Kester to approve the minutes of the June 19, 2017 meeting.
Kester made the motion to approve the claims excluding the bill to ISAC for $5800.

After discussion, Sellers made the motion seconded by Dotts to approve the claims as submitted. The vote was yay for Sellers and Dotts and nay for Kester.

Sellers made a motion with a second by Kester to approve Resolution 06-01-2017 pertaining to salaries and wages for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017. RESOLUTION 06-01—2017

A resolution setting the salaries and wages for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017, for all Wayne County Employees.
Be it Resolved by the Wayne County Board of Supervisors; That, the following is a list of wages, hourly rates and nightly rates to be paid to Wayne County Elected Officials, Deputies, Department Heads, Clerks and Employees for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017.

Kester made the motion with a second by Sellers to approve the membership of the supervisors on various boards for FY18. There was a discussion concerning Sellers and Dotts both being on the Chariton Valley Transportation. It was decided that one is on the policy board and the other is on the tech board.

Jack Reed addressed the board to discuss changes in the Workers’ Compensation Law. He stated that the handbook now needs some review/corrections. Reed has new forms that he is recommending that Wayne County should use. Reed is going to provide the legal summary from his legal counsel and the sample IMWCA forms as well as a Release Form for gathering information.

Trevor Wolf discussed the fact that ITC cannot be shut down on July 10th. ITC says it will be fine without shutting down. Wolf expressed his concern that the safety of his workers are his 1st priority and will contact Calhoun to discuss bridge design. There was also discussion concerning 7 trees that were removed at Evergreen Corner. Wolf will assess the situation to evaluate compensation.

Monthly reports were accepted by the Board from Wayne County Sheriff – Keith Davis, Clerk of Court, and Recorder – Angie Horton. A yearly report from the Recorder was also accepted.

There was no Public Comment.

Kester made the motion to adjourn the meeting with a second by Dotts at 10:38 AM.

There being no further business, the next meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors will be held on the 24th day of July 2017.
